Bridging Climate Divides

for Agenda 2030

THE OPPORTUNITY

While the existential threat of climate change is widely accepted,
collaborative approaches to climate action remain elusive.

The normal ‘doom and gloom’ narrative does not build community
or promote win-win strategies.

Bridging Climate Divides for Agenda 2030 (BCD 2030) creates
the space for inclusive development of transformative narratives
and bottom-up solutions for climate impact.

BCD 2030 is an extension of SDG2030.me’s Crowdsourced Solutions process.

THE APPROACH

BCD 2030 held its first workshop at the United Nations in Vienna in July 2023. A plenary of over 100 people took part in this collaborative launch.

Since then, we have held further BCD 2030 workshops, linking intersectional topics such as human rights, migration and democracy while including a multidisciplinary, intergenerational range of participants.

This initiative has been complemented by innovative media outreach, dedicated research initiatives, and targeted projects.

The BCD 2030 launch at the UN Vienna opened with interventions from these young global leaders:

Nour Barakeh

Wilson Center Agents of Change Youth Fellow in the Middle East

Nyombi Morris

Ugandan Environmental Activist

Malaika Oringo

Founder and CEO
Footprint to Freedom

Michael Spiekermann

Fridays For Future Austria Activist

Then the plenary transformed into dynamic groups creating shared solutions for climate issues.
Political leaders, company CEOs, high school students, activists and others collaborated as equals:

The results were inspiring. In just 90 minutes, strangers became cooperation partners as intersections
were explored and alliances created. The result? New projects developed with ongoing impact planned.

Since then, we have replicated BCD 2030 in multiple settings, freely sharing information on conducting
these inclusive and impactful workshops. Interested in connecting? Contact Heather Wokusch.
